New for Fall 2017 - We have added a Thursday Matinee Performance! This is to accommodate our colleagues and families who prefer an after school performance. Performance Dates are Thursday 11/16 at 3:15, Friday 11/17 and Saturday 11/18 at 7:30. The Mineola High School Drama Club presents THE CURIOUS SAVAGE under the direction of Matt DeLuca and assistant, Bette Sloane. John Patrick's heartwarming comedy opened in 1950 on Broadway, but its themes of greed vs. goodness and cold-heartedness vs. kindness still ring true in 2017. THE CURIOUS SAVAGE follows the misadventures of Mrs. Ethel P. Savage (Deborah DosSantos). The charitable widow has been left $10,000,000 by her late husband, and has established a fund to help others make their hopes and dreams come true. However, her greedy adult stepchildren Titus (Robert Shevlin), Lily Belle (Katrine Gulinao), and Samantha (Ana Victoria Serna), want the money for themselves. Hoping to bring Mrs. Savage to her senses, the children commit her to The Cloisters, a "sanatorium." There she meets a variety of social misfits who need the kind of help Mrs. Savage can provide. There's the motherly Florence (Jacqueline Letta), the child-like pathological liar Fairy May (Sarah Harty), the shy former military pilot Jeffrey (Jake Lenze), the aspiring but terrible violinist Hannibal (Nathan Bischoff) and the cantankerous seascape painter, Mrs. Paddy (Chloe Katinas). Managing this zany crew are Dr. Emmett (Stephanie Toms) and nurse/administrator Miss Wilhelmina (Sarah Carbain). With the help of her new friends, Mrs. Savage conspires to rid herself of her self-serving stepchildren, leading them on a merry chase and raising the ultimate question of just who the sane people are. THE CURIOUS SAVAGE plays at the Theatre at Mineola High School Thursday, November 16 at 3:00 PM, and Friday (11/17) and Saturday (11/18) nights at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors and are available online; please visit www.mineoladrama.com, and follow the link to purchase tickets.
