IA Permission Slip
The Mineola Fine and Performing Arts Department is pleased to offer several fundraising opportunities throughout the year for families. These fundraising opportunities are split into two categories: group fundraising and individual fundraising. The money raised from group fundraisers; such as dining at a restaurant, benefits the ensemble. However, the funds from individual fundraisers are deposited into your child’s IA.
IA stands for Individual Account. Once fundraising begins, a learner has an IA created for them. Think of the IA as a bank account - when you sell a box of chocolate for $96, and that fundraiser has a 50% profit margin, $48 is automatically deposited into your child’s IA. That is how your fundraising money becomes available for your child to use towards a Mineola Fine and Performing Arts event. Please note the following guidelines for the Individual Account:
Q: What happens if a learner graduates with money left in their IA?
A: IA balances can be transferred to a sibling in the household. If there is no sibling in the house, the
money is put into the ensemble’s General Fund to benefit the entire ensemble for future approved costs.
Q: How do I check the balance of my IA?
A: Contact the teacher organizing the trip; they can give you the balance of your IA.
Q: What can I use my IA funds for?
A: Your IA funds can be used towards costs in the Fine and Performing Arts Department as said above. IA funds cannot be used for Instrument Rentals or NYSSMA.

- Funds carry over year to year but must be used before the learner graduates.
- To use your IA; contact the teacher organizing the field trip and inform them that you’d like to use the IA for an upcoming cost.
- You cannot withdraw cash from an IA. Funds need to be used towards an approved cost.
