Mineola High School Senior was recognized by the Long Island Arts Alliance as a Scholar Artist, for his achievement in the visual arts and overall academic abilities. Hymn's achievements have earned him a generous scholarship and a half-page spread in Newsday (date tbd). Earlier today Hymn received his initial recognition at the LIAA Scholar-Artist Kick-off Event, held at Half Hollow Hills High School East. Hymn was recognized alongside 19 other students who won awards for music, art, media studies, and theater. During the 2016-2017 school year, Hymn was a member of the first ever AP Studio in Art that was offered in an online format, taught by Mineola Art Teacher Gina Buongiovanni, through a partnership with Mineola UFSD and Nassau BOCES. In addition, Hymn is developing a vast portfolio of paintings and architectural designs. A wonderfully skilled artist, Hymn brings a level of sophistication and creativity to his artwork at the highest level. The entire Mineola School District is proud of the way Hymn contributes to the rich Fine Arts program, and to the school at large. See Hymn's Press release in Newsday |
